Alexandra Rehak, VP Research, Analysys Mason

Alexandra Rehak focuses on areas that include media and entertainment, mobile telecoms, and international carrier strategy. Before joining Analysys Mason, Alexandra was most recently Director of Advisory Services at TeleGeography, specialising in consulting and research on demand, supply and pricing of international telecommunications services.

Previously, Alexandra was Vice President, Strategic Development at Asia.com, a developer of Internet and mobile services and applications in Greater China. Her earlier experience includes managing Motorola's Business Research and Strategy group in Asia, acting as a Principal Consultant in the telecoms strategy group of PA Consulting Group and serving as the Director of Asia Research and Consulting for Pyramid Research.

Alex Bloom, VP Content, Handango

As the vice president of content, Mr. Bloom is responsible for defining and executing Handango's global smartphone content strategy. He leads content acquisition efforts, develops revenue strategies and helps lead Handango's efforts to optimize content and e-commerce services. Mr. Bloom works with the entire executive team to align content strategy with the overall objectives of Handango.

As a veteran of the telecommunications and mobile content industry, Bloom has acquired a breadth of experience ranging from sales and marketing to product management. Most recently, Bloom served as the vice president of Content and Developer Services at Motricity, a provider of mobile content solutions and services to the wireless industry. There, his primary responsibility was to develop and manage content partnerships that supported the company's key partners.

Prior to Motricity, Bloom was the director of Content and Programming for Verizon Wireless where he managed the strategy and operations for all consumer content businesses for the company. Mr. Bloom has also served as the manager of Content and Applications at Verizon Wireless and spent six years in various positions as GTE Wireless.

Mr. Bloom earned a Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Virginia.

Alan Brenner, SVP Software, Research In Motion

As Senior Vice President, BlackBerry Platform, at Research In Motion Limited (RIM), Alan Brenner is responsible for the inception, development and delivery of RIM's end to end software platform including developer tools, BlackBerry Enterprise Software(BES), BlackBerry Internet Software(BIS) and BlackBerry Unite!.

Alan joined RIM in April of 2007. Prior to joining RIM, Alan was a Senior VP at Sun Microsystems responsible for the Java ME Platform, Java Cards, Open Office, iPlanet Email and several other Sun software businesses.

Alan holds a Master of Communication and Information Studies Degree from Cleveland State University and a BA with Honors from York University.

Barry West, President XOHM, Sprint Nextel

Barry West is chief technology officer and president of the XOHM business unit for Sprint Nextel. He previously served as executive vice president and chief technology officer for Nextel Communications Inc. West joined Nextel in 1996 and is the chief architect in creating the iDEN wireless technology platform with partner Motorola.

Prior to joining Nextel, West led many successful engineering and marketing initiatives during more than 35 years for British Telecom, including overseeing the rollout of a GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) digital cellular network that covered more than 90 percent of the United Kingdom population in only nine months. West also served as director of value-added services and corporate marketing at Cellnet, the pioneer of cellular communications in the United Kingdom.

Brandon Lucas, Senior Director, Mobile Business Development, MySpace

Brandon Lucas oversees mobile business development for MySpace. His previous experience in mobile includes business development positions with Vodafone, U.S. Cellular and The Walt Disney Company. Brandon has a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Chicago GSB, and is an avid weekend outdoor adventurer.

 

 

Brendan Benzing, SVP, Motricity

Brendan Benzing is Senior Vice President, New Product Strategy & Marketing for Motricity. He's responsible for defining Motricity's product strategy for its industry leading mobile services platform.

Benzing joined Motricity through the acquisition of Infospace Mobile. He joined Infospace in 2005, bringing experience in sales, marketing and interactive media product development. He has more than 17 years of experience in the media industry and over a decade with interactive media products including mobile, internet, and interactive TV.

Prior to Infospace, Benzing spent seven years with America Online, serving as Executive Director for AOL's Search and Directional Media Group. Prior to that Brendan held positions of increasing responsibility with Bell Atlantic.

Chris Sacca, Investor, Lowercase Capital

As the managing director of Lowercase Capital, Christopher Sacca is a leading Silicon Valley venture investor, private equity principal, and company advisor focusing on consumer web, mobile, and wireless technology.

Most recently, he was Head of Special Initiatives at Google Inc. In that role, he headed up alternative access and related product development. His most visible projects include Google's successful and revolutionary 700MHz wireless spectrum openness initiatives, establishing the company's groundbreaking data center facility in The Dalles, Oregon, and Google's free citywide WiFi network in Mountain View, CA. Sacca was also responsible for many of the companies mergers, acquisitions, venture investments, and new business development deals over his years there.

Sacca is a frequent public speaker on the subjects of corporate innovation, new disruptive technologies, and global access to the Internet. Currently, he is an Associate Fellow of the Said Business School at Oxford University, and was also recently recognized as a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute.

The Wall Street Journal cited Sacca as the "most influential businessman in America" and Fast Company magazine named him a "Person to Watch." Before joining Google, Sacca held a number of executive roles at one of the world's largest streaming and digital media distribution companies, Speedera Networks (acquired by Akamai Technologies), and was ultimately responsible for their legal and corporate development efforts. Prior to Speedera, he was an attorney with the Silicon Valley law firm of Fenwick & West where he handled venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and licensing transactions for technology clients such as Macromedia, VeriSign, Excite@Home, and Kleiner Perkins. Before arriving in Silicon Valley, he lived and worked in Europe and Latin America.

Chris Boyer, Assistant Vice President - Internet & Technology Policy, AT&T Services Inc.

Chris Boyer is Assistant Vice President of Internet & Technology Policy for AT&T. Mr. Boyer is responsible for developing and coordinating AT&T's strategic policy initiatives related to emerging services and technology with a particular focus on Internet Protocol (IP) based Internet and video services. Mr. Boyer recently moved from the company's former headquarters in San Antonio to the Bay Area.

Prior to this role Mr. Boyer was AT&T's dedicated policy resource supporting AT&T's business units involved in the company's nationwide efforts to expand fiber optics into neighborhoods to deliver Internet Protocol (IP)-based television, faster high-speed Internet access and voice services to consumers under the AT&T U-verseSM brand. In this role Mr. Boyer has represented AT&T before numerous external audiences as a subject matter expert on these initiatives.

Mr. Boyer joined AT&T in 1993 and has held various positions in AT&T's corporate public policy, network planning and engineering, network regulatory, wholesale marketing and network services departments including extensive experience working on AT&T's broadband, VoIP and IPTV initiatives.

Mr. Boyer holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas and an MBA from the University of Houston in Houston, TX. He and his wife Marnie have a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Sydney, and reside in San Ramon, CA.

Dan Meyer, Managing Editor, RCR Wireless News

Dan Meyer is the managing editor of the wireless industry's leading trade magazine RCR Wireless News. Meyer started with the company in 1999, and in 2000 was promoted to reporter covering primarily wireless carriers. Meyer became managing editor in 2005 and regularly writes opinion columns for the magazine as well as its Web site www.rcrwireless.com.

David Isenberg, Isen.com

David S. Isenberg spent 12 years at AT&T Bell Labs until his 1997 essay, "The Rise of the Stupid Network," was received with acclaim everywhere in the global telecommunications community with one exception -- at AT&T itself. So Isenberg left AT&T in 1998 to found isen.com, LLC, an independent telecom analysis firm based in Cos Cob, Connecticut. Isen.com, LLC produces F2C: Freedom to Connect, an annual two-day conference designed to bring nethead and Internet innovator issues to Washington DC. David Min, Vice President of Software Center, LG Electronics

David Min is a Vice President of Software Center, LG Electronics, where he oversees enhancement of software platforms and software engineering activities related to mobile handset & device, DTV and home appliance.

As the role of embedded software becomes increasingly important, he has contributed greatly to LG Electronics' enhanced software capability with more than 20 years of industry experience. In the field of mobile communications, his prominent advices to the improvement of superior software platforms has elevated LG's competitiveness in mobile telephony.

In addition to his impressive achievements at LG Electronics, David has enjoyed a distinguished career working for a wide variety of Korean, and U.S. corporations, including Samsung, HP, Silicon Image, and Microsoft. As a research fellow, he led software development team of 300 engineers for display products (TVs and Monitors) at Samsung Electronics, and he developed IPTV client platform as a senior software engineer at Microsoft.

David has a B.S. in Department of Computer Science and Statistics from Seoul National University, an M.S. in Computer Science from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dean Bubley, Founder, Disruptive Analysis

Dean Bubley is the Founder of Disruptive Analysis, an independent technology industry analyst and consulting firm. An analyst with over 16 years' experience, he primarily specialises in mobile, wireless, networking, and telecoms fields, with further expertise in certain aspects of the software and semiconductor sectors. Elizabeth Altman, Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Motorola Mobile Devices

Elizabeth J. Altman is vice president of strategy in the CDMA product division of Motorola's Mobile Devices business. In this role she is leading strategic planning efforts to establish Motorola as the #1 supplier of CDMA handsets in the world. Prior to this position, Altman was vice president of strategy and business development in Motorola's Mobile Devices business responsible for developing and managing acquisitions, equity investments, joint ventures, technology licenses and strategic alliances.

Altman began her career at Motorola in 1992 as a staff mechanical engineer after earning dual graduate degrees in mechanical engineering and management as a fellow in MIT's Leaders for Manufacturing Program. In 1994, she was awarded a U.S. Department of Commerce and Japanese government manufacturing technology fellowship and spent a year working on an engineering team at a Sony camcorder factory in Japan.

Prior to joining Motorola, Altman was an advanced engineer with Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge, MA. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Japan Society of Boston and is an Advisor to the FutureForward Conference, which is an annual summit focusing on technology and business in New England.

Altman earned her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at Cornell University and serves on the President's Council of Cornell Women, the Cornell University Council, and the College of Engineering Council. Altman was featured in Warren Bennis and Robert Thomas' book on leadership entitled Geeks and Geezers: How Era, Values and Defining Moments Shape Leaders and is profiled in the September 2002 edition of "Harvard Business Review" in the article "Crucibles of Leadership" also by Bennis and Thomas. Altman was selected by Boston Magazine in 2003 as one of the "Top 100 Most Influential Women in Boston," and was honored in the "Boston Business Journal" as one of Boston's "40 Under 40" top business and community leaders.

Erik Hallberg, SVP & Head of Mobility Services Sweden, TeliaSonera

Erik Hallberg presently heads the Swedish telecoms company TeliaSonera's Swedish Mobility Services operations, with approximately 1,700 employees and revenue of about 1 billion Euros. During his 9 years with the company, Erik has headed TeliaSonera's Swedish Broadband Services operations, its Baltic operations as well as carried out several turn-around operations in several of the company's market areas.

Previously Mr Hallberg worked as CEO of a European telecoms operation (NETnet International SA) and established a new operation for alternative telecom in 8 countries during 4 years in the 1990's. He also founded and chaired the establishment of one of the first Voice IP companies in Europe in 1997 - Glocalnet AB. It is today O-listed on the Stockholm stock exchange. Prior to that he was CEO of Diners Club Sweden AB. He presently holds positions on the boards of Prevas AB (an OMX-listed company working with industrialised IT applications and programmes), and Cygate (suppliers of secure IT infra-structure in Sweden and Finland).

Eric Klein, VP Java Marketing, Sun Microsystems

Eric is a product marketing executive with extensive experience developing and marketing best-in-class consumer and media solutions that include hardware, software, and service components. His passion is creating products and platforms that intuitively solve real customer problems at the intersection of mobile, consumer, location based services, and entertainment. As Sun's VP of Marketing for Java, Eric's team is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, strategic partnerships, and marketing for Sun's Java platform. His last role before joining Sun was as the Senior Director of Product Marketing at Dash Navigation, a KP/Sequoia startup that shipped the world's first two-way connected personal navigation device, the Dash Express. He has previously enjoyed product roles at Real Networks, Palm, and Apple, and has started or played an early role in a number of Bay Area startups.

Fabrizio Capobianco, CEO, Funambol

Fabrizio Capobianco is CEO of Funambol, Inc., the leading provider of open source push email and mobile sync solutions for the mass market. Fabrizio is both a serial entrepreneur and a veteran executive of the mobile industry, with work experience that includes stints at Reuters and Tibco. He founded the first Italian Web company in 1994 and also founded a developer of an information portal product with customers that included Kraft, Novartis, Italian Broadcasting Television and the Italian Stock Exchange. Capobianco has taught university courses on mobile and holds a Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Pavia, Italy, with a focus on usability. He was recognized as a top "40 under 40" leader by American Venture Magazine and by the readers of Mobile Village as a mobile email visionary. He writes a blog that was voted among the 20 best in the wireless industry by FierceWireless.

Gary Willihnganz, Director of Marketing, Ultra Mobility Group, Intel Corporation

Gary Willihnganz is the Director of Marketing for Intel's Ultra Mobility Group (UMG) since 2007. Gary's responsibilities include the product management, ecosystem enablement and go to market strategies for Intel's new low powered Atom™ processor across the Mobile Internet Device (MID) markets.

Prior to becoming the Director of Marketing in UMG, Gary was based in Singapore for 4 years and two major areas of responsibility. As the Director of Marketing for Intel's Asia Pacific Region, he was responsible for the branding, promotions and demand creation for the portfolio of branded Intel Architecture products across the desktop, mobile, server and handheld platforms.

Gary joined the Asia Pacific region in 2003 as the Director of the Reseller Channels Organization (RCO) across Asia Pacific. In this role, he was responsible for sales, marketing and distribution of the branded Intel Architecture products across 20 Apac countries and channels including distribution, resellers and retail.

Gary was the Director of Sales for the North America Computer Sales Group for 4 years prior to moving to Singapore. He was responsible for local OEM and distribution sales for the Intel branded products across the United States and Canada.

Gary joined Intel in 1994 in the Technical Manufacturing Group (TMG). He spent 4 years as the CPU product manager in the Microprocessor Marketing and Business Planning Group (MMBP) responsible for pricing, supply line management and microprocessor product management.

Gary received an Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin, and received an MBA from Anderson School at UCLA.

Gene Keenan, VP Mobile, Isobar

Gene Keenan leads the cutting edge of marketing innovation as Isobar's VP of Mobile Services. In this role, Gene has won numerous Aegis Globe awards for his innovation and has been the recipient of industry awards including an MSNEMMY for his work on Adidas. Gene is on the board of the Mobile Marketing Association who also counts as board members these major brands: P&G, VISA, AOL, CBS, ESPN, FOX, Microsoft, and every major carrier in the USA. He co-chairs the metrics committee of the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and guided the creation, funding, and execution of the first marketing effectiveness study on behalf of the MMA. Gene works on the Adidas, Electronic Arts, Dolby, Tivo, Amp'd, New Line Cinema, and Motorola accounts. Before joining the interactive space Gene was a professional chef who toured with the Grateful Dead for eight years and owned an organic edible flower and herb farm.

Hossein Moiin, Group VP for Technical Strategy, T-Mobile, International

Hossein Moiin is the group vice president for technical strategy at T-Mobile, International where his main interest is in identification of innovative solutions to mobile operators' business problems. Currently, he is leading the development of for the Next Generation Mobile Networks project, an industry-wide initiative that sets the future vision of the mobile industry. Previously, he led the technical strategy of T-Mobile for data services. Before joining T-Mobile, Dr. Moiin worked for Sun Microsystems in US and Europe to develop strategic platforms for telecommunication and financial sectors. Dr. Moiin has over twenty years of experience in the ICT industries and holds a Ph. D. from University of California in Computer Engineering.

Ian Freed, VP, Amazon

Ian Freed joined Amazon in 2004 as director of mobile products and services. Now in Amazon's Digital Services division, he oversees the business division including product marketing and engineering for end-to-end product and services in digital media, including Kindle, Amazon's wireless reading device.

Before joining Amazon Digital, Freed was vice president of mobile products and services with RealNetworks, Inc. where he oversaw business development, marketing, product management, and product development globally. He previously served as president of his own company, Ian Freed Consulting where he worked from 1991 to 1997. Prior to that, he was a consultant at Richard A. Eisner & Company and Kalba International.

Freed earned his bachelor's degree in Physics from Dartmouth College and his master's degree from Harvard University.

Jai Jaisimha, VP Mobile, AOL

Jai Jaisimha is Vice President of Mobile Technology and Product Development at AOL, LLC, a Time Warner Company. At AOL, Jaisimha is responsible for all aspects of software development for AOL's mobile products including Mobile AIM and AOL's global WAP portal products. Jaisimha comes to AOL with more than 17 years of software development and management experience. Prior to AOL, Jaisimha was Vice President of Product Development for Medio Systems, a pioneer in the Mobile Search and Advertising space. While at Medio, Jai oversaw development teams that created and deployed industry leading text and voice-enabled search and advertising solutions for Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile USA, T-Mobile International, Telus Mobility, Sprint and others.

From 2003 to 2005, while at Microsoft, he was involved in connectivity solutions development for the portable digital media device market, including handsets, for the Windows desktop OS. He was also responsible for a new line of business, which included solutions for Windows Media nomadic devices in the automotive space. Working with Nokia and other mobile terminal vendors, as well as a variety of automotive OEMs and suppliers he deployed Windows Media DRM, codec and connectivity technologies.

As founder of ContentTone Systems, Jaisimha oversaw a startup focused on personalization and recommendation system technology, improving the premium-content commerce experience on mobile phones. During his more than five years at RealNetworks, Jaisimha led the company's entry into several new product lines focused on the embedded device, digital music and service infrastructure markets, including RealJukebox, RealServer, RealEncoder, and embedded versions of the RealPlayer product.

For his research in multimedia content management and databases, document filtering and information retrieval at MathSoft, Inc. (now Insightful, Inc.), Jaisimha received research awards and grants from the U.S. Department of Defense, National Security Agency, National Institutes of Health, NASA and the NSF. Jaisimha has a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications from the Indian Institute of Technology, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Tulane University, New Orleans and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Jason Spero, VP, Admob

As Vice President of Marketing, Jason leads the team responsible for AdMob's marketing activities in more than 160 markets around the world. This includes building the AdMob Marketplace to serve the company's hundreds of advertisers and more than 5,500 publisher partners. Jason brings more than seven years of experience in product, marketing and general management functions in the mobile space. Before joining AdMob, Jason was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Redpoint Ventures where he focused on mobile applications, services and infrastructure. Prior to Redpoint, Jason was Senior Vice President of Marketing at Digital Chocolate where he was responsible for worldwide product, marketing and distribution. Previously Jason was a Director of Product Management at Openwave where he led their Client and Instant Messaging product teams. Jason holds a BA from Amherst College and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Jay Sullivan, VP, Mozilla

Jay Sullivan is VP of Mobile at Mozilla, where he works at Mozilla on mobile Firefox and other new projects with the Mozilla Labs team. Jay has been working as a mobile software developer for the last several years, most recently as co-founder and VP of Product Management at PocketThis, where he and his team pioneered the idea of "Send to phone" from the Web as a way to make the mobile Web useful for people. In that capacity, he worked with mobile network operators, mobile infrastructure and browser providers and Web developers building mobile applications in Europe and the US. Prior to that Jay worked at Oracle on Business Intelligence tools and applications, and Firefly Network (purchased by Microsoft) on the earliest versions of Passport.

Jeffrey Ezell, VP, AT&T Mobility

Jeff is Vice President - Consumer Product Planning and Research for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, where he is responsible for the planning and development of new product opportunities for AT&T's portfolio of wireless, broadband, and video services. Jeff has held a variety of strategy and business development roles in his seventeen years of experience in technology-related industries, including positions with AT&T, Cingular, BellSouth, IBM, and The Boston Consulting Group. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Jerry Panagrossi, VP & GM USA, Symbian

As vice president and general manager of the Symbian operations in North America, Jerry Panagrossi is responsible for strategic planning, market development and communications. For more than nine years, Jerry has been a leading contributor to the growth of the Symbian ecosystem, having launched the Symbian partner program in North America and co-created the Symbian venture capital forum in which he advises startup companies on best practices for obtaining funding and engaging with handset manufacturers and operators. Jerry serves as executive director and officer of Symbian, Inc. and represented Symbian on the board of directors of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) from 2004 to 2007.

Jerry joined Symbian in 1999 from Motorola where, as senior research engineer and project manager, he developed and patented natural input technologies and designed user interfaces for advanced concept mobile devices, including two-way pagers, communication PDAs and mobile phones. Specializing in pattern recognition and usability engineering, Jerry also held contracting and software engineering positions at Apple Computer, Eastman Kodak Company, and Ciencia y Tecnología Aplicada (trans. "Science and Technology Applied").

Jerry earned an undergraduate degree in computer science from Southern Connecticut University and completed graduate studies at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Jill Braff, SVP, Glu Mobile

Game industry veteran Jill Braff leads Glu's worldwide publishing efforts which include licensing, marketing and sales. Since joining the company in 2003, Braff's understanding of the mobile marketplace and evolving consumer behavior has helped shape the way mobile games are marketed and launched today. In 2004, with Atari's DRIV3R, Jill was responsible for leading the first global day-and-date launch of a blockbuster mobile game, an achievement that created an industry template for global game launches, and highlighted Glu's deployment expertise. In 2007, Braff was honored as one of the 40 most influential people under 40 in Silicon Valley by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, and in 2006 she was named one of the game industry's 100 most influential women by Next Generation. Prior to joining Glu, Braff served as interim vice president of marketing at Sega of America, as a creative director at Konami of America, as a consultant for Sprint on its entry into wireless gaming and held senior marketing positions at Photopoint Corporation and MyFamily.com. She also held positions at The Learning Company, Sega of America, Griffin Bacal and Nintendo of America. Braff has a B.A. from Colgate University.

Jim Madsen, EVP, NextWave

Jim Madsen is an Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer of NextWave Wireless. Formerly, Mr. Madsen held several executive management positions at NextWave Telecom which he co-founded in 1995.

From 1989 to 1995, at QUALCOMM Inc., Mr. Madsen headed the CDMA Business Development where he led the company's PCS business development, marketing and sales initiatives, and also served as Director of Marketing for OmniTRACS' satellite data communications business and was responsible for worldwide VLSI components business development and marketing.

Jon "Maddog" Hall, Chief Advocate, Openmoko

Jon "maddog" Hall is the Executive Director of Linux International (www.li.org), an association of computer users who wish to support and promote the Linux Operating System. During his career in commercial computing which started in 1969, Mr. Hall has been a programmer, systems designer, systems administrator, product manager, technical marketing manager and educator. He has worked for such companies as Western Electric Corporation, Aetna Life and Casualty, Bell Laboratories, Digital Equipment Corporation, VA Linux Systems, and SGI. He currently works as an independent consultant, and is the CTO and Ambassador for Koolu (www.koolu.com) a Canadian firm that is involved with bringing environmentally friendly computing to emerging marketplaces. Mr Hall has worked on many systems, both proprietary and open, having concentrated on Unix systems since 1980 and Linux systems since 1994, when he first met Linus Torvalds and correctly recognized the commercial importance of Linux and Free and Open Source Software. He has taught at Hartford State Technical College, Merrimack College and Daniel Webster College. Mr. Hall is the author of numerous magazine and newspaper articles, many presentations and one book, "Linux for Dummies". Mr. Hall has consulted with the governments of China, Malaysia and Brasil as well as the United Nations and many local and state governments on the use of Free and Open Source Software. Mr. Hall serves on the boards of several companies, and several non-profit organizations.

Mr. Hall has traveled the world speaking on the benefits of Open Source Software, and received his BS in Commerce and Engineering from Drexel University, and his MSCS from RPI in Troy, New York.

Jonathan Christensen, GM Audio and Video, Skype

Jonathan Christensen has more than 15 years of experience shaping strategy for the growth of IP communications in start-ups and world class organizations such as Skype, Microsoft, and Time Warner.

In 2005, Jonathan co-founded Camino Networks where he was CEO until it was acquired by Skype. He is currently a senior member of the Skype team leading core technology development for audio and video, as well as initiatives for voice quality, network interconnect, and business adoption. Prior to joining Microsoft Corporation, Jonathan held management positions at Time Warner, pioneering commercial Internet services including access, hosting, and Web design. While at Time Warner, he was instrumental in bringing to market the first generation of consumer broadband services.

Jonathan has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

JP Rangaswami, Managing Director, BT Design

Julius Knapp, Chief OET, FCC

Julius Knapp is Chief of the FCC's Office of Engineering and Technology (OET). OET is the Commission's primary resource for engineering expertise and provides technical support to the Chairman, Commissioners and FCC Bureaus and Offices.

Mr. Knapp has been with the FCC for 34 years. Mr. Knapp became Chief of OET in 2006, having previously served as the Deputy Chief since 2002. Prior to that he was the Chief of the Policy & Rules Division where he was responsible for FCC frequency allocation proceedings and for proceedings amending the FCC rules for radio frequency devices. Mr. Knapp was Chief of the FCC Laboratory from 1994 - 1997 where he was responsible for the FCC's equipment authorization program and technical analyses.

Mr. Knapp received a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the City College of New York in 1974. He is a member of the IEEE EMC Society and is a Fellow of the Radio Club of America. He was the 2001 recipient of the Eugene C. Bowler award for exceptional professionalism and dedication to public service and received the FCC's Silver and Gold medal awards for distinguished service at the Commission.

Mr. Knapp lives with his wife and family in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Justin Siegel, CEO, MocoSpace

An experienced mobile entertainment executive, Justin was most recently Vice President of publishing for SkyZone Entertainment. He led the company's product strategy, and oversaw the production and development of SkyZone's products including Duke Nukem Mobile 3D, Brine Lacrosse, The Crocodile Hunter: Operation Rescue, Encyclopedia Britannica, and Donovan McNabb Street Action.

Prior to working at SkyZone, he was Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of JSmart Technologies, a leader in casual games and entertainment for mobile devices. Kanishka Agarwal, VP, Nielsen Mobile

Kanishka Agarwal is responsible for US mobile media measurement at The Nielsen Company, the world's leading market research firm. He has more than 10 years of comprehensive experience in the communications, media, technology and mobile market research industries, and is a seasoned speaker and mobile industry expert on such topics as mobile content, including gaming, music and entertainment and converging communications.

Prior to Nielsen Mobile, Kanishka spent five years at Booz Allen Hamilton, including a year at Sprint PCS developing new products for the enterprise wireless data market. Len J. Lauer is executive vice president of Qualcomm and chief operating officer. Mike Grant, Partner, Analysys Mason

Mike Grant has almost 20 years of experience in the telecoms industry in a variety of senior management roles in operational and consulting environments. Monica Alleven, Editor, Wireless Week

Noam Raffaelli is managing director of Plaza at Qualcomm Internet Services (QIS). QIS helps accelerate consumer adoption and consumption of mobile content across all networks and devices by delivering a more engaging mobile experience that is contextual and relevant to consumers' personal interests.

In his current role, Raffaelli leads the team responsible for the successful commercialization of Plaza, Qualcomm's mobile Internet end-to-end monetization platform for operators and publishers. Rebecca Hanson, Vice President for Strategy XOHM, Sprint Nextel

Rebecca Hanson is Vice President of Strategy for Sprint's XOHM Mobile Broadband Business Unit, where she provides strategic direction for the long-term growth of the XOHM WiMAX network, including diversified revenue streams from digital media services and advertising, and other mobile applications and business models. Prior to joining XOHM, Ms. Hanson was Senior Vice President of Business Affairs at XM Satellite Radio, where she ran XM's strategic partnership group, concentrating on programming, strategic media and marketing, and product development. Before XM, Ms. Hanson was an attorney with the law firm of Shaw Pittman in Washington, DC, where she practiced business law in the areas of high-technology and venture capital finance.

Rich Green, EVP, Sun Microsystems

Rich Green is responsible for the overall operational leadership of Sun's software division, which has delivered some of the computer industry's most innovative technologies and business models. Mr. Green oversees the Solaris Enterprise System, including the Solaris Operating System, the Java Enterprise System suites, N1 management software, Sun Studio and Java Studio developer tools. In addition, he leads a variety of industry-standards efforts and open source communities.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Green has extraordinary insight into the evolution of developer platforms and enterprise software alike. He returned to Sun in May 2006 following two years as executive vice president of products at Cassatt Corporation, an enterprise software company focused on next generation system virtualization.

Prior to Cassatt, Green spent 14 years at Sun where he led a variety of software initiatives. He was the vice president and general manager of Sun's combined Java organization where he led development, introducing business programs for Java EE, Java ME and JavaCard. He was responsible for the widespread adoption of Java SE via OEM bundling and Web download programs. As Sun's chief Java advocate, Green played an essential role in the company's negotiations leading to its landmark $1.6 billion settlement and 10-year collaboration agreement with Microsoft. Green also spearheaded the development of such critical technological advancements as Java Studio Creator and was instrumental in driving adoption for Sun's Java Virtual Machine software. Previously, Green served as vice president and general manager of the Solaris products organization.

Rich Miner, Group Manager Open Platforms, Google

Rich has been developing innovative communications and interface-intensive applications for more than 20 years. He is currently group manager of mobile platforms for Google, helping to build the Android platform. Rich has been with Google since the company's acquisition of Android, a mobile software platforms company he co-founded.

Prior to Android, Rich was vice president of advanced services at Orange, where he headed the group's R&D activities in North America. He came to Orange through the acquisition of another company he co-founded, Wildfire, which made a voice-based personal assistant product that was sold to fixed and wireless carriers. Rich held various positions at Wildfire, including CTO and MD for Europe.

Rich received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where he was co-director of the Interactive Media Group and led research projects with companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Apollo, IBM, and NYNEX.

Richard Wong, Partner, Accel Ventures

Richard joined Accel in 2006, with a focus on enterprise software, SaaS, and mobile infrastructure and services. Rich currently serves on the board of AdMob, the largest mobile advertising player and Parature, a leader in SaaS based customer support. Rich also works closely with the management team of Getjar Networks, the largest mobile development community and free mobile apps download portal.

Through pre-Accel associations, Rich also serves as a board advisor to Plaxo (acquired by Comcast) , Sana Security, and Simplicita (acquired by Sandvine). At CTIA 2008, Rich was awarded a "Mobile Six" award as one of the 6 most influential individuals shaping the wireless industry.

Prior to Accel, Rich was SVP/GM of Products at Openwave and previously GM of Messaging Products, and Chief Marketing Officer at Openwave. While at Openwave, Rich founded and chaired the Messaging Anti Abuse Working Group, a consortium of ISPs and technology providers working together to combat internet abuse.

Previously Rich was the Chief Marketing Officer and EVP/GM of Value-Added Services at Covad Communications, the DSL provider. Preceding Covad, he was a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, focusing on software and consumer technology. Rich started his career as a Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble. Mr. Wong holds a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Rob Theis, Managing Director, Scale Venture Partners

Rob Theis invests in technology infrastructure and applications companies at ScaleVP. Prior to joining ScaleVP in May 2008, Rob was with venture capital fund DCM - Doll Capital Management, where he was a General Partner for 8 years, and invested in leading companies, including JasperSoft, NeoPath Networks (acquired by Cisco), PGP Corporation, Roamware, VanceInfo (NYSE: VIT) and Wikinvest.

Rob's investing career builds on his global experience driving technology startups' sales, marketing and partnership success. As executive vice president for New Era of Networks (NEON), Rob grew the company to $200 million in revenues and was instrumental in leading NEON through a successful IPO. Prior to NEON, Rob spent 10 years in varied executive roles at Sun Microsystems, where he drove growth in a series of new strategic initiatives, including Sun's success in the Financial Services Industry sector. Rob's previous experience includes launching Silicon Graphics' initial workstations and selling timesharing services for McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing).

Theis was awarded the Honors Scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a B.A. degree in economics.

Robert Syputa, Senior Analyst, Maravedis

Robert Syputa is Senior Analyst and Partner of Maravedis Telecommunications Research, a consulting services provider to wireless IC, equipment, network service provider companies and the financial community. Robert does consulting in WiMAX, LTE 4G broadband wireless technology and market developments for startups and leading firms.

Ron Czerny, CEO, Playphone

As founder, chief executive officer and board member, Ron Czerny (pronounced "Cher-nee") serves as the visionary and driving force behind PlayPhone's corporate strategy. His more than 14 years of experience in the digital entertainment industry has allowed Czerny to help establish PlayPhone's dominance in the mobile media industry and has positioned the company to compete and thrive on a global scale.

In 2000, Czerny founded Atrativa, a mobile and Internet consumer entertainment company with operations based mainly in Latin America. As chief executive officer, Czerny led Atrativa to its current status as the premier Web game provider in South America, powering several major ISPs including UOL (South America's largest ISP), Yahoo! Brazil, AOL Brazil, MSN Brazil, Ibest (Telecom Brazil), Terra Networks (North and South America) and many others. RealNetworks, Inc. acquired Atrativa in 2006.

Czerny also played an important role in Latin America's video game industry between 1992 and 1999 as the co-founder of the Brazilian Entertainment and Video Game Association. He also served as the president of Romstar and Sports Arcade, companies with strategic and exclusive partnerships with Capcom for video game distribution in Latin America.

Czerny holds a degree in business administration with an emphasis in international business from San Jose State University in California.

Ryan Hughes, VP Digital Media, Verizon Wireless

Ryan Hughes is Vice President of Digital Media Programming for Verizon. In this role, he leads a team that is responsible for sourcing and delivering content across Verizon's multimedia platforms. His areas of oversight are social networking, music, games, location-based services, mobile web, wallpapers, offnet, premium messaging, Flash, search, email, instant messaging, and mobile payments.

Prior to joining Verizon, Hughes spent five years at the National Hockey League running New Media Business Development. At the NHL, he was responsible for bringing the league's content to all new media platforms such as interactive TV, wireless and Internet.

Hughes has a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Cornell University. He was drafted into the NHL in the second round, and played four years of professional minor league hockey before beginning his business career.

Scott Barkley, VP Products, Jasper Wireless

Scott heads the Products group for Jasper Wireless responsible for strategy and implementation of innovative wireless data technologies to enable connected devices. Prior to Jasper Wireless, Scott worked in the enterprise software application industry for the last 8 years. Most recently, Scott held the position of Director of Products at Siebel Systems responsible for two emerging product categories. Scott has an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Princeton University.

Scott Ehrlich, CEO, DigWorks

Scott Ehrlich has more than a decade of top-tier television and Internet management experience, serving in the senior management teams at Real Networks, Rivals.com and News Digital Media (Newscorp/Fox). In these positions, Scott has managed staffs of more than 200 employees, and annual budgets in excess of $40 million. He has negotiated landmark deals with major media entities in news (CNN, ABC News, The Weather Channel, CNET, WSJ.com), sports (NBA, NFL, NASCAR, MLB, PGA Tour, FOX Sports) and entertainment (E! Entertainment, CBS (Big Brother and Survivor), iFilm, Starz On Demand, Playboy) for the carriage, distribution and packaging rights to their content over IP, at various times managing relationships with four of the largest media companies in the world (Viacom, Disney, AOL Time Warner and News Corporation).

Currently Scott serves as the managing partner in Impulse Media, a Seattle based digital business consulting company and Red Tie, Inc., a development company with offices in New York and Seattle. In the past year he has served as a consultant and advisor to top management at Sony Pictures Digital Networks (digital media business strategy), Rivals.com (senior corporate advisor), Infospace (search and directory application distribution), ABC News Digital Media Group (broadband and mobile digital media distribution), DivX Networks (content strategy and acquisition), iFilm, Inc. (senior corporate advisor) and Microsoft (digital media business strategy).

Scott has overseen industry-changing initiatives and the development of ground-breaking applications in digital media. Expert in strategic planning, product and business development, he has been responsible for all content, revenue, product development, creative services, deal making, marketing, and long-term strategy. He is widely recognized as a leader in digital media, winning industry awards, serving as company spokesperson, and in high demand for public speaking engagements and panel appearances at industry conferences. Prior to forming Impulse and Red Tie, Scott served as Vice President of Media Acquisition and Distribution for RealNetworks, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK) In that role, he developed strategies, negotiated, implemented and managed product deals and relationships for the GoldPass and RealOne SuperPass services and drove growth of Real Networks' subscription services to more than 1 million subscribers.

Previously, Scott was Executive Vice-President and General Manager for Rival Networks, the publisher of Rivals.com, where he oversaw all aspects of the business including advertising sales, e-commerce, content, business development, marketing, public relations and creative services. At Rivals.com, Scott grew the network from 350 niche sports sites to over 800, while fostering revenue growth in excess of 400%. He developed and executed the operations plan, business strategy and documentation for Rivals' S-1 filing, securing financing ($35M, Softbank, 2000) and significant distribution deals (Yahoo! Sports, 2000). In addition, Scott supported international development with Rivals UK and Japan.

Earlier in his career, Scott was the senior vice president and executive producer of News America Digital Publishing, with responsibility for all editorial, production, technology and product development for News Corporation's content-based digital publishing ventures, including FOX.com, FoxNews.com, tvguide.com and FoxSports.com.

Scott has years of television management and consulting experience working with major broadcasting outlets other than Fox, such as NBC Cable, Twentieth Television, Paramount and McGraw-Hill Broadcasting. Ehrlich received his masters degree from The Graduate School of Political Management, now part of George Washington University and his undergraduate degree from Kenyon College.

Shanda Bahles, Partner, El Dorado Ventures

Shanda Bahles is an experienced technology investor and veteran of several successful technology start-ups.

Shanda has been with El Dorado Ventures since 1987, focusing on early-stage investments in software, service and communications companies. She is on the board of Blue Casa, DVDPlay, FusionONe, InsideTrack, Voxify and WireCache. In 2002, she was named to Forbes' annual "Midas List" of top-performing venture capitalists.

Prior to joining El Dorado, Shanda was a co-founder and/or early employee at several key start-ups, including Fortune Systems, Infotek, Magnuson Computer Systems and Millennium Systems. With a background in electrical engineering, Shanda began her career as a design engineer, but soon moved into executive positions in product marketing, including overall management of product marketing at Fortune Systems.

Shanda received both a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Stanford University.

Shane Wall, VP Mobility, Intel

Shane Wall is vice president of the Mobility Group and director of Strategic Planning, Platform Architecture and Software for the Ultra Mobility Group. He is responsible for all aspects of business strategy, strategic planning, platform architecture and software solutions in support of the Ultra Mobile business.

Previously, Wall was the General Manager for the Channel Platform Solutions Group, responsible for developing and managing platform solutions in support of Intel's channel customers. Wall was also a director of the systems technology lab in the Corporate Technology Group, responsible for researching and developing system and platform technologies for current and emerging computer architectures.

Wall has also served as director of the emerging technologies lab in the Corporate Technology Group, director of applications and services lab in the Intel Architecture Lab, and director of new business development within the New Business Group.

Joining Intel in 1998, Wall holds four patents in the field of color science.

Wall received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computing engineering from Oregon State University and is a graduate of the executive education program at Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

Tom Carter, President Americas, Truphone

In his current position, Tom Carter leads the North & South American operations for U.K.-based mobile-VoIP provider Truphone. Previously, as co-founder of BridgePort Networks, Carter personally funded the initial development team and actively participated in the operation of the company. He was also co-founder of @Mobile, a venture-backed application-services provider for wireless carriers and Internet content providers.


Tom Ellsworth, CEO, GoTV

Thomas Ellsworth is a deeply experienced veteran of the wireless industry. Before joining GoTV, Ellsworth served as Executive Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Development from 2001 to 2005 at JAMDAT Mobile. Inc. (NASDAQ: JMDT) where he was part of the management team that saw the company complete its highly successful IPO in September of 2004. Prior to JAMDAT he was Vice President of Incubator Development and Senior Director of Business Development in the wireless division of Sprint. In that role, Ellsworth oversaw the Sprint incubator joint venture that led to the formation of wireless companies - including JAMDAT Mobile and Boingo.

While at Sprint, Ellsworth also launched the 1st CDMA market in the US and developed what became the "Free and Clear" rate plans - a pioneering change in the wireless industry. Earlier in his career he held selling, marketing and strategy roles at California Amplifier, Inc., L.A. Cellular (acquired by AT&T) and IBM. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Marketing from California State University, Northridge and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Tricia Duryee, Principal Correspondent, mocoNews

Tricia Duryee joined mocoNews in February 2008 as principal correspondent and is responsible for covering the intersection of the wireless industry and content. Vincent Rerollle, SVP and GM, WindRiver

Vincent Rerolle is senior vice president and general manager of the Linux product division. Prior to joining Wind River, Rerolle was vice president of corporate development at Mercury Interactive, responsible for mergers and acquisitions, business development and technology alliances. Rerolle also held various management positions at Citadon, McKinsey, Vivendi and Sagem, in the United States, France and Australia.
